Shipping Clerk
Job Description
Matern Staffing is hiring a Shipping Clerk for a leading U.S. manufacturer of automation systems for the plastics industry in Fredericksburg, VA. A successful Shipping Clerk plays a crucial role in ensuring that products are shipped accurately, efficiently, and on time, contributing to customer satisfaction and the smooth operation of the supply chain.
As a Shipping Clerk you organize the orders leaving the business, ensuring accurate records and well-prepared shipments, ultimately making customers happy. You'll also help streamline the movement of orders into the warehouse, noting discrepancies and maintaining accurate inventory levels.
Salary:
- $17/hr
- This is a contract-to-hire position, Monday-Friday, 8am-4:30pm
- Helps construct boxes, pallets, skids, crates, or platforms for domestic or export shipments of equipment or machine parts
- Assists in lumber selection, cutting, and preparation for various tasks
- Operates forklift to handle heavy machinery, placing them securely on skids or blocks for shipping
- Coordinates outgoing shipments, placement of materials, and performs daily reconciliation of jobs with internal stakeholders, ensuring efficient warehousing activities
- Light carpentry experience with ability to learn using power tools (drills, nail gun, saws)
- Strong data entry and mathematical skills to help with quick and accurate typing and calculations
- Strong attention to detail with great follow-through to ensure accuracy and comprehensiveness
- Ability to lift heavy items
- Enjoys learning how things work and has a curiosity for brainstorming process improvements and finding/implementing solutions
- Proactively approaches situations with excellent time management and prioritization skills
- Active listener who collaborates effectively with teammates, always ready to step in to help
